"Because it's cold and dangerous?" Kiyasa wondered, but her words were hardly a breath. Speaking up, she asked, "I think we all do at one point or another. What's your reason?" She lowered her head and stuck the tip of her beak into the water to take a quick drink.

"It flows no matter what's going on around it. If there's a stop, it stops until it can flow once more. No matter the conditions, it does what it can to survive." Arethusa looked up for a moment, before looking back down. "Just like what I'm doing now. Going along with everything to survive, even if I don't agree with it."

Kiyasa's attention had been attracted by Arethusa's analogy. "Hm, what makes you say this? Going along with things you don't agree with..." She turned her head in another direction. "To survive. That's something most of us can relate to by this point, but coming from the high-advisor..." She looked at Arethusa again. "Why are you telling us this?"

"I don't care about this place, in all honesty. But I do care about my survival." Aarne shuffled, staying where he was when Arethusa looked up again. "As odd as this would be, may I..." She hesitated. "May I help you with your goals?"

Kiyasa let out a squawk when Arethusa made her request. "Ack! What? Help us?!" She heaved a breath to settle her ruffled feathers and calm herself down. "Well... I don't know if we can trust you, but by the deceased Aurestra would you ever be useful." She looked to Aarne. Her expression was urgent, serious. "What do you think?"

"I'm not sure..." Aarne muttered. "But having someone with a high rank may benefit us." Arethusa looked back at the stream, muttering to herself.

"Ah, I suppose you have a good point there. Yes, I agree. But..." She looked at Arethusa again and sighed. "You know what? Let's do it. Arethusa, welcome to the rebellion." She managed a grim smile. "I hope this is the right decision."

Arethusa snapped her head up, clearly surprised. "Alright... I'll get you information about Rose-singer. Whatever he plans or thinks, I'll let you know." Aarne nodded, smiling a little before it was wiped away by what Arethusa said next. "I'll do my best, but some lives may have to be taken to ensure his downfall. I hope you know that if I'm giving you info, I may have to use others to lead him away from you."

Kiyasa's pleased countenance vanished upon hearing what Arethusa continued with. "...Yes. I'm aware. I was in the army, I know what it means to make sacrifices. When the time comes, do what you must if need be. But please, spare all the lives you can. We want to bring new light, not further darkness. The captain of one of my old brigades told me that all the time when talk of killing came up, so y'know." She had gotten her point across, so she said no more on the subject.

Arethusa nodded, looking up for a moment. "I'll do what I can, then." She took off without another word. Aarne breathed happily, relieved that the falcon was gone. "This entire plan is going to kill me, I know it," he mumbled.

"Small birds don't die easy," Kiyasa argued, nudging the hummingbird with her wing. "We have acquired a very valuable asset today, assuming she's as trustworthy as she paints herself to be. I believe that overall, this has been a small success." She smiled. "So don't worry much about it."

"I'm a sage! All I do is worry!" Aarne retorted, his feathers fluffing out and making him look like a ball. After a moment, he let his feathers lie flat and he sighed.

Kiyasa laughed at him. "You sages. So much goes on in your heads, yet you can be so smart. All I've ever needed to know is how to use my talons. I envy you now and then." She looked up at the sky through the tightly woven branches. "Ah, another day comes to a close. When shall we meet up tomorrow? There's much to discuss."

"As long as I don't loss my feathers, I'll see you tomorrow," Aarne replied, smiling slightly before flying off. He landed in his nest, falling asleep quicker than usual. Arethusa landed on the branch that lead to her nest, her talons scratching the bark as she went to it. She was doubting herself now, but didn't go back on the decision as she dozed off.

Kiyasa, too, made her way to her nest and tucked in for the night. She dreamed of battles and valor, and bore a smile on her beak.

The sun was bright, but the shelter of the forest's roof of leaves provided adequate relief from the harsh, warm rays. However, not every bird minded the heat, so some basked in patched of sunlight that could be found here and there. Others relished in the shadows of the woods. Kiyasa herself was bathing in a puddle to begin her day, ridding her messy feathers of dust and grit. Quite the opposite of her, two other birds would not leave themselves so open. They had business to discuss, and they wouldn't have another soul hear. They flew through the darkest patches to conceal themselves from sight, chattering quietly as they moved.

Arethusa flew around, keeping quiet as she listened and kept watch around her. She wondered if she was just hearing things in the forest. Feeling unnerved made her cautious and alert as she flew. Aarne sat next outside his nest, humming to himself.

Rose-singer wasn't partaking in his usual morning patrols. He was a busy hawk, making plans and speaking with those in his circles. Arethusa wasn't present for one reason or another, but he had faith in her, so he was willing to put his errands on other birds. However, it was frustrating to lack someone to share his opinions with. In the end, he decided it would be best to do a few rounds and he took flight. Kiyasa finished preening her blue feathers and wondered how she might spend the next while. She had a lot to think about, what with everything that was up and coming for Plumis Praetus. And as all this went on, two odd birds continued to circle, searching for the ideal place to discuss things in private.

Arethusa stopped and turned her head, curiosity getting to her when the noises wouldn't stop. Turning to the forest, she flew towards and into it. Hoping she would find what was causing her to feel unnerved.
