A grey and black cat was sitting in a clearing in a small forest. It had pale green eyes, which were focused on it's paws, and short fur. The dark coloured tom had a decent life. No one bothered him and there was lots of prey. But, he wasn't satisfied. As much as the young tom was well fed and unscathed, he hated to admit that he was lonely. Why doesn't he just go find a cat and ask to be friends, well, that's a different story. The tom, named Obscure, couldn't really ask anything. If he tried to, a desperate whimper was all that left his throat. So he sat in the clearing, his only company his imagination. But who knows how long that would last. Or should he be afraid of the opposite?

(I don't know why, but I love how you start an rp ) A small, grey tabby pelt walked through the forest, looking for something. Her pale blue eyes looked from bush to bush, tail flicking from annoyance. "Come on. I know that's near here somewhere." she spat. The she-cat stopped as she heard a growl and smelled something, how she put it, unpleasant. She turned slowly to see a fox, baring its fangs out her, it was starving. She unsheathed her claws and bared her fangs, "I may be small, but I'm strong!" she spat as the fox leaped. The she-cat slid under the fox and bit down on its leg, in return, she was hit by the fox's paw. She hit a tree and stood up, she yowled and ran towards the fox. The fox didn't see where she went until it felt claws on its back , ripping fur off of its pelt and drawing blood. The fox barked in pain and rolled over. The she-cat and the fox were soon focused on each other. Blood stained the forest floor and fur clumps were scattered around (I was listening to "Riot" by Three Days Grace on Pandora as I typed this. If there was more than one cat, it would have been a coincidence)

(Thanks ) Obscure jumped when he heard a loud yowl. It wasn't often such a noise reached his tufted ears. Curious, but at the same time nervous, he got up to investigate. He was not expecting the sight that met him in the forest. When he saw the grey striped pelt and the russet blood-stained one, his reaction was to yowl in surprise. Except that he didn't yowl. A small, scared mewl was all that left his tongue. He backed away from the bloody battleground, not sure what else to do.

The she-cat yowled in pain as the fox's claws raked her side and pushed her away. She stumbled up, but didn't run towards the fox. "I-I cant win. This fox is too... good." she breathed. The grey tabby she-cat collapsed, her side bleeding. She saw the fox come closer to her as her vision started to get blurry. "Good night for me." she whispered before blacking out. The last thing she heard was the growls of the fox, and the last thing she smelled was the fox's terrible breath
(Don't know why I made Jay faint, I just wanted to)

Obscure knew he should help, but he was no fighter. The only fighting he could do was hunting, if that counted. His pale green eyes were lit with fear. But despite that fear, he leaped at the fox, hoping a fresh fighter would scare the already wounded beast off.

The fox jumped up as it saw Obscure and dashed off. The she-cat was still unconscious, but her wound was barely bleeding now.

Obscure nodded in satisfaction as the fox ran off, then went to the cat to see if it was alive. He poked it with a soft, grey paw. Then he realized it was still breathing slightly, and sighed in relief.

The she-cat became conscious after Obscure poked her. She opened an eye to see Obscure standing over her. "Are you hear to finish me off?" she asked, still weak from the blow.

Obscure blinked in surprise and shook his head. He would only hurt another cat if he really had to.

The she-cat rolled onto her stomach and slowly sat up. "Did you chase away that fox?" she asked

Obscure shook his head. He hadn't chased it off, it fled as soon as it saw him just because he was a fresh fighter.

"I see." she mewed, licking her wound. She was able to get some cobwebs and marigold that was nearby. She chewed the marigold into a poultice and put it on her wound, wincing a little. She then put the cobwebs over her wound. "What's your name?" she asked, "Mine is Jay."

Obscure's eyes darkened. He wasn't sure how to react, since he couldn't speak. He just opened his mouth and tried to say it. Air was all that left his throat. His pale green eyes were glowing with meaning.

Jay blinked, "Oh...sorry, didn't know you couldn't talk." she said. She thought for a moment, "How about drawing your name in the dirt?" she unsheathed a claw and drew her name in the dirt, "Like that."

Obscure thought for a moment before unsheathing a claw and spelling out 'OBSCURE' very messily. He gazed at Jay, looking for approval.

"...Obscure." Jay muttered, then nodded. "Alright then." she looked around, making sure the fox didnt come back. "Thanks for getting rid of the fox. I would've been dead if it wasn't for you." Jay dipped her head, "Thank you"

Jay shook as a cold breeze touched her. "You know, after everyone I've seen and heard, your really nice." she looked around. "And sorry for short notice, but I have to go. See yu later." she dashed off. 'I hope I see him again.' she thought

Obscure waved his tail as a goodbye before heading back to his den. 'I hope she comes back sometime...' He thought, his loneliness striking him once more, harder now that he had a glimpse of friendship.

Jay had gathered the herbs she needed and wet back to her den. When she got there, she was tackled, dropping the herbs. "Where were you?" the tom spat. "Almost dead because of a fox flea-brain." Jay spat, "Thanks for your concern!" she picked up the herbs and went inside, smelling sickness straigt away. After a few minutes, the sick cat was asleep. "Your mate will be fine now, she's not going to die." Jay meowed. "She better not, or your life will end healer." the tom growled. Jay flattened her ears and narrowed her eyes, "Swallow a fur-ball."
