Cinnamon was resting near the Nursery, the kits playing not too far off. Her eyes were aglow with pride and content, which hid the sparkle of sadness and regret she was also feeling.
Dust was playing with his siblings, except for Whisper, who was sitting to the side.

Bunny was sitting to the side too, while she watched her three other litter mates play. Adder and Sparrow where playing with Dust. A strange wind blew through the camp, which was a dead cat named Rabbit. He watched the kits, happiness and regret in his eyes.

Cinnamon felt the wind and knew it was her deceased mate. She gave a quiet sigh and rested her head in her paws.

Rabbit walked over to Cinnamon, he whistled and wished he was alive. The kits continued to play.

Her ears perked. She listened to the wind and watched the three kits play. It concerned her a little how the other two never joined in, but she didn't question them.

Bunny stretched and laid down, still being quiet. Rabbit sat down and watched his kits play.

Dust played with Adder and Sparrow.
Cinnamon watched quietly.

Bunny stood up and walked over to Cinnamon. "Hey, mom? Can I ask you something?" She asked, her head tilted. Sparrow pushed Dust onto Adder.

"Of course. What's on your mind?" Cinnamon asked.
Dust stumbled, running into Adder. He fell, but quickly got back up.

"Who and where's dad?" She asked. Sparrow and Adder stopped fighting as they heard the question. They shook the dirt from their pelts and walked over. Rabbit blinked at the sudden question.

Cinnamon sighed. "I knew you'd ask soon enough." She mewed. "Well, your father is a cat named Rabbit. He grew up here, in the Meadow." She began. She paused in case they had questions.
Whisper and Dust padded over to listen.

"Hm, where to begin... Well, one day, Rabbit was hunting. He had spotted a nice piece of prey, but when he tried to kill it, it attacked back. The rabbit he was stalking clawed at one of his eyes and ran off." She continued. (Going to have to thread lots of posts for this.  ) |

"Then, Rabbit came back. For the next while he was very disappointed. He could only use one eye so he thought he was useless to the Meadow." She continued.

Bunny tilted her head. "Why would he think he's useless? No reason to think like that!" Sparrow said. Adder stayed quiet. Rabbit continued to listen.

Cinnamon nodded. "I tried to tell him that. But one day, he left the Meadow." She mewed. "He joined a group of cats. They taught him how to hunt and fight with only one eye." She thought, trying to order her memories.

Rabbit nodded. "Why would he leave us!?" Adder yelled. Sparrow shut Adder's muzzle with her tail, "Continue please."

"But, we missed each other. So we started meeting each other at night sometimes." She said. "Then, one day I was relaxing in the grass and I heard a yowl. I went to investigate. Then I found Rabbit, laying on the ground with a dead fox on top of him. He had a very bad wound. I tried to get him to the healer, but he wouldn't let me. He said only if I could win a training match with him I could take him to a healer. So I did it. But halfway through, he stopped. He couldn't fight anymore. The leader of his new group, a cat named Wolf, sent me to her colony to get her healer." She paused for a moment. "I brought the healer back and he fixed Rabbit up, but..." Her voice wavered a little. "It was too late."

Adder and Sparrow were quiet after that. Bunny put a paw on Cinnamon. "You did your best mom." She said.
