Now here was an unusual sight.
Roaming through the woods was Vodus, but it's not like anyone knew his real name anyway. His pelt was primarily a shadowy black. Each of his paws were golden, as though he'd dipped them in pure sunlight. He sported a hood on his head, which was black with shining gold trim. Underneath that was a black muzzle that led to bizarre eyes. One, his right, was solid red, and the other, his left was sky blue, and also had thin black lines travelling through it like cracks. It was like a lake in the middle of winter, frozen over, that couldn't quite support the weight of a crossing creature, snapping under the pressure. No one ever saw his left eye though. He didn't even let himself see through it, always obscuring it under the shadows of his hood or hiding it behind an eye patch for something of the like, fearful of the consequences. He also has a tuft of green fur that fell in front of his face and hung to the left of his muzzle, further protecting that odd blue eye.
What was he up to, you might ask? Nothing, actually. He was crouched in the shadows of a bush, watching a bird through hidden eyes, looking to be musing over something. He was jolted out of his thoughts, though, when he caught the scent of another cat. His appearance shifted. In a matter of seconds he had become a completely different cat. He was now a ginger tabby, with long fur. He took off his hood and hid it. He'd come back for it later. Then he placed an eye patch atop his left eye, only daring to open it after that task had been completed. His other eye was now a pale silvery-blue, with the slightest hint of green, despite the other one remaining completely the same. The one hindrance that constantly foiled his plans, he couldn't change how his left eye looked, as though the cracks signified that is was truly broken. Usually he could get away with simply hiding it though. Now that he had taken on a disguise he sat down in the open, wondering if this other feline he had scented would show them self.

A dark, ginger red she cat was hunting among the grass, looking for prey. She wore a black collar that had dog teeth in it. As she walked around, looking for prey, she was talking to herself quietly out of boredom. Her emerald eyes glowed as she walked.

Vodus spotted the she-cat hunting. He decided he'd go over and introduce himself. It'd been far too long since he took part in conversation, and he wanted to brew some trouble. He walked over to the ginger she-cat, being cautious in case she was hostile. "Hello there," he mewed, going with a simple greeting since he wasn't sure of her personality. "I don't believe we've met before." Then he flicked his ears. "Sorry if I was interrupting a hunt." He swished his orange tail, wondering how she'd respond. He'd met many different cats of many different personalities, and was curious which group she'd fall under. It wouldn't surprise him if it was the 'Didn't stick around for more than five seconds' group. He had encountered lots of those lately.

She turned her head to see the ginger tom, and sat up. "It's alright, there's more prey to find." She replied, wrapping her tail around her paws. The she-cat knew he was different, seeing that he wore an eye-patch, but decided not to ask. "My name's Scarlet," she said next, dipping her head.

"I'm Nequirus," Vodus responded, also bowing his head. He lied as though he were speaking the truth, his words coming smoothly with no hesitation. "A pleasure. Always nice to make a new acquaintance." He did enjoy making allies, but he knew that knowing too many cats could be dangerous, as nearly no one knew his true identity and every cat he met spoke to a different face. He recalled one of his more recent conversations, in which he'd managed to make a she-cat fall for him using a grey-furred body. He also attempted to make a dragon befriend him once... That wasn't as successful unfortunately. "Scarlet, is it? Fitting name." He studied her dark pelt, then returned his gaze to her face. This was going well so far.

Scarlet wasn't used to acquaintances, ever since her clan fell apart, but she decided to give it a try. "Thank you Nequirus, it's a pleasure to meet you as well."

"How long have you lived around here?" He asked, curious. "If you do live here that is." It wasn't often he saw a new face in that area of the forest, since a lot of it was taken over my more territorial loners with a claim on land. "I like to think I've seen everyone who dwells in this area, but it wouldn't surprise me if I missed a face or two." He swished his fluffy tail. He had the temptation to adjust his eye patch, but resisted, because he knew that would make it seem as though he wasn't used to it, which wouldn't fit with his charade.

She thought for a moment, thinking how long she has been here. "I haven't lived here long. About a week or two at most," she replied.

"Yes, that would make sense," Vodus said with a nod. "Well, one thing's for sure, it's not often you see someone willing to talk around here. Ran into a tom a few days ago, said hi, and he attempted to claw off my whiskers." That was a true story. Recalling it, he grumbled in annoyance, lifting a paw to ensure his whiskers were indeed still intact. "It's a rough area, but we manage. Have you met many others?"

"I've met a few..." She remembered the moment. "Had to claw my way out of the situation."

He nodded with a grunt. "Exactly. It can be rough around here, but you adjust." His eyes flicked across her pelt. "You look like the type who's more than capable to hold her own in battle, anyway." He tilted his head. "That collar... Were you a pet once, or is it just an accessory?" Perhaps he was prying, but he may as well ask his questions as they arose. She seemed willing enough to talk... But still, one could never know when they might strike a nerve.

"I was raised in the wild, but was caught when my curiosity took over." She replied. She wondered why he was asking questions, but again, didn't say anything about it.

"Ah, so you fled the human land. I don't blame you, they're foul creatures." His nose wrinkled in distaste. "I had to venture into one of their settlements once, and I didn't enjoy it. Luckily I came out unscathed. Anyway, do you have any questions about me? It's only fair I answer them, after asking you so much. I know I can be pushy sometimes, I let my curiosity get the better of me." He lifted his tail, curious what she'd ask. "Ask away."

She nodded and thought for a moment before saying, "Why do you cover your eye?"

He grunted and cracked a small smirk. "The obvious question. I cover it because I'm blind on that side, so what's the point of having it exposed?" He took a brief moment to recall the conversation, gather all the information he had made up and refresh his memory a bit, then he calmly waited for the femme to respond. Hopefully his answer would please her. This was a touchy subject for him. His tail twitched faintly as it rested upon his orange paws.

She thought for a moment before nodding, "Seems reasonable."

Happy with how she responded to his explanation, he stretched quickly and then sat down, relaxing. "Anything else you happen to be curious about?" He asked her, giving an expectant flick of his russet coloured ears. He began thinking about what he'd talk about if she answered no while he waited for her next action, mulling over each conversation idea and plausible consequences that could occur as result.

Scarlet shook her head, looking at her toothed collar before looking back up at him.

"Alright, I see." He studied her closely. "I've met a lot of cats, and some other creatures, all of them rather interesting... I actually met a mouse a while ago who was friends with a mentally challenged snake. That was an interesting exchange. In that same encounter I met a young tom who'd befriended a bird. A white dove, I believe. It's fascinating how many different animals you meet." He tilted his head. "Have you ever met anyone interesting on your travels?"
(That think with the mouse and snake, and the cat with the dove friend, true story, but it was actually a different character I used XD)

She shook her head with no hesitation, "Not really, most of the cats I meet are angry and territorial."
