Anew - A Poem

[Shadow Sharpfang]

Another day, progressing as normal
How I wish for change to come
Watching the world slowly rot
I think I might be going numb


Then, from the sky,
Falls the tool of a god
As though straight into my hands
The item to correct all that is flawed


A disgusting planet is what we stand upon
Riddled with the disease that is mankind
Now, the saviour who will cleanse the filth,
Alas, he's come, and the contract is signed


A dark, grim fate means nothing to me
When it means I can make the world anew
I'll rid my home of all this dirt
And I'll right all that's been thrown askew


My plans, they grow, coming into fruition
The people are uniting again
Under the only one who can make things right
So what if I'm no longer sane?


Yes, my followers, unite under my rule!
Together, we will banish this mere façade of peace
The faulty shadow of truth from under which we live
All of these lies, let us make them cease!


Now, to the non-believers, look what I've created!
The world is free of crime and fraud!
And now I'll reign over it as king!
No, I shall be god!


Oh, but what's this feeling I've gained?
Is it that... I failed?
Defeated at the hands of false justice,
My mask falling, my true face unveiled?


It can't be over,
All my hard work
To make this land into one of peace
And bring light to those lost in murk...


Perhaps it truly
Wasn't meant to be
All of my ideals...
Just a silly fantasy


I'll allow myself, now,
As my eyes fall closed,
To be submerged in the punishing darkness
The everlasting cold

I've been quite in love with writing poems recently after we were tasked with writing about 50 million during school last year. (And by that I mean roughly 10, give or take.)
Granted, the rhythm isn't perfect in a lot of areas, but it's hard to express emotion correctly in such a tight space. It certainly isn't perfect, but it got the message across I was looking for, so I can't complain, really.
My rambling aside, I'm really glad you like it~
