The raptor's gaze snapped to Aekan, forgetting that he was even here. She took a deep breath and sighed, her body slightly relaxing. "Do what you want. Just stop being a thorn until this entire problem is solved, will you?" The request was simple, in her mind anyway, and she wanted at least some peace for a few moments. The Starved were one thing, but when you hear that those cannibalize are reaching outside of their dark territory is another. Viridian straightened up and closed her eyes, hoping an idea, or anything, would come to her mind. "And the weight isn't on just my shoulders, it's on everyone's."

"Yeah, maybe, but we can't very well act without your guidance, now can we, Great One?" Aekan mocked, dipping his head in a bow. "I'm leaving. My nest beckons. If you haven't already, you should get to sleep as well." He shook his head and set off back to the base at a lazy run, bouncing out of view. When he arrived, he lay down in his preferred spot and before long, he had drifted off to sleep.

She grumbled under her breath, knowing that the raptor was right. Viridian looked towards the fields before turning away from it. With a huff, she went back to the base. She ignored the looks from the others as she headed to her den, her mind clouded with info and thoughts. Viridian entered her den and landed in her nest with a thud, listening as the base quieted down for the night before drifting off to sleep herself.

Viridian laid outside of her den, watching her pack-mates go about their duties. She had yet to tell everyone about the situation of the Starved, but she also didn't want to panic them. In the back of her mind, she knew she would have to tell them in the end, but she would rather come up with a plan before giving everyone false hope.

Aekan was up and eating before he went out to scour the hunting grounds for prey. His gaze flickered over to Viridian multiple times. He was waiting for her to bring up the Starved to the pack. They needed to know, after all, regardless of whether they were ready to deal with the threat or not. Or that was his opinion, anyway. He thought they could sort stuff like plans out later. He finished his small meal and sauntered towards the camp exit.

With a growl, an idea appeared in her mind. It was the only one that sounded good, even though it might not end well. Viridian stood up and stretched her limbs, then started calling everyone together. "If anyone is outside of the base, get them! Everyone needs to hear what I have to say!" She roared.

Aekan stopped short just as he was about to leave, looking over with a smirk as he heard Viridian call. He turned 180 degrees and walked right back into camp, standing among the front of the slowly growing group. Then he waited for the meeting to begin.

When she saw that everyone had gathered, she took a deep breath before speaking. "Yesterday, I had received news from the rival pack. As much as I wanted to ignore it, I couldn't shake my head clear of it. The Starved had grown brave, brave enough to move from their territory and come into ours. A raptor from the feather-heads were killed, and their Healer was wounded and given a message. Tomorrow night, they will swarm our territories and go for Quetzal's, and my throat. Not only that, but they will continue to cause havoc among the packs." Viridian awaited for her pack's reaction, and wasn't surprised when she received it. Raptors were either talking to each other, roaring in denial, or just simply yelling at her. She didn't interrupt them.

Aekan released a quiet laugh at the uproar that followed, turning his head to gaze around at everyone. There was a plethora of different responses to be had. Denial, anger, suspicion, fear. It seemed the majority were in disbelief of what they were hearing. Aekan was one of the few who remained calm after hearing the news. He looked back to Viridian, waiting for her to quiet them down and continue, if she even planned to do so.

"I do, however, have an idea!" Her words brought the uproar to die down, even if there were whispers here and there. "The idea I propose, is where two raptors from our pack go to the Starved territory and scout them out. Those creatures rely mostly on sight, seeing as they lived in nothing but darkness. It's a drastic challenge, but someone has to go. I wish I could go, but I'm afraid that will cause more havoc for everyone here." She tapped her claws against the stone beneath her. "I'm looking for volunteers.."

Aekan snorted. "No way I'm going," he grumbled, shaking his head. He had no obligation to risk his life, as far as he was concerned. He hunted for the others who lived with the pack, but he rarely saw them doing anything for him, so what was the point? He'd fight if it came down to it, but he couldn't be bothered to do scouting work.
In the back of the crowd, one of the healers was cowering behind a rock, her scales coloured grey to match. She was practically shaking with fear. The Starved terrified her. They were too unpredictable and savage for her liking.

Viridian glared when no one offered. "Do any of you care about this!?" She snapped. "Everyone's lives is at stake and none of you care? Knowing the plans of the Starved give us the upper hand! We might as well go to the waters and either drown, or get eaten!" Viridian looked at her pack, baring her fangs in anger. "I might as well order two of you to go to their territory!"

For the most part, it seemed like silence would ensue, as though the pack silently declared it would let her give orders rather than someone volunteer for the task. Aekan watched the events unfold, fairly certain he could predict what was to come but enjoying as he watched nonetheless.
The alpha's display of anger spooked the hiding healer and she fled further away from the scene.

She straightened up and settled down. "Since I suggested two, a healer would have to go with the fighter so the chance of survival is higher. Now.." Viridian looked at her pack-mates once more for deciding. "For the Healer, I choose Tarka. Your camouflage is a welcomed ability in this, and I believe you will do well. As for fighter, I choose Aekan. Your venom can be used to kill silently. I expect nothing more, but good news when you two return. The both of you leave at dawn, and I'll lead the two of you as far as I can take you. Any questions?"

Yes, as predicted indeed. Aekan shook his head at Viridian and left the group, wandering out of camp to presume his original plan of hunting. Tarka winced when she was addressed by Viridian. She peeked out from where she was hiding and made herself look composed, taking a breath. "Understood. I will go, and I'll do my best to provide you with good results," she said, hoping no one noticed how her tail was quivering like a twig in the wind. "I'll spend the rest of the day preparing supplies. I have no questions." And with that, she darted over to the place the medicines were kept and started calculating what she would need. Her work calmed her, and she felt better after a few minutes.

Viridian dismissed the pack, watching as they went off to do their duties. Even as she entered her den, she felt troubled with her decision. She didn't like the option of sacrificing two of her own pack-mates, despite how one gets on her nerve at times, but it was the only option she had come up with.

Tarka sighed, realizing she would have to leave to fetch some of the things she needed. In the meantime, she put together the things she would need, hoping the other healer wouldn't mind that she would be taking the majority of their stash. She decided that she would do her best to make up for what she took when she went out into the woods to gather what she needed to finish preparations.
Aekan was hunting prey, chasing after a fat goat, who bleated in fear as he effortlessly caught up and pounced. He killed it and started hauling it back.
