She hissed and turned her head away, digging her claws into the dirt. "If you're going to tell me off for leaving without getting a checkup, I'll snap back," Viridian warned, her attention turning to a butterfly that flew around.

"I won't, don't worry. Not this time, at least," Tarka assured her in a gentle voice. "Just sit still and led me treat you. The next time you don't come to me when you're injured, though, I will scold you!" Aekan was chuckling at the interactions between the two. Tarka was usually so quiet and frightened, but nothing got between her and a patient.

"And I'll say the same thing when that happens. Everyone has to be checked before me. I have a second command that can take over if I pass, and they'll pick their second command and so on. The pack is always before me, in health and in life." Viridian said, her eyes staying on the fluttering insect.

"I will tend to the lower ranks before you, but that does not give you an excuse to flee camp when you have such serious injuries," Tarka argued as she finished up. "There, I'm all done. I don't wish to continue arguing with you on this matter. You are important to us, that is all." A sad look lingered in her eyes as she packed her things away, but she was finished speaking on the matter.

Viridian watched as the butterfly vanished into the overgrowth. She muttered something under her breath, standing up and following the insect.

"Where are you off to now?" Tarka asked, but shook her head. "Ah, I did what I came out here to do, it's fine if she wanders off." She looked at Aekan. "I need an escort back to camp. Please accompany me." "I followed you all the way out here, I'm not just gonna leave you now," Aekan grumbled as he led the way back.

Viridian followed the butterfly, then her attention snapped back to where she was when she smelled salt. She saw that she was by the shore, hearing the waves crash against the shore. The butterfly disappeared from the raptors view, and she looked around. "What did you want to show me, butterfly? I see nothing..." A tree falls over, and she jumped with a growl. "Except change."

The two of them arrived and then parted ways. Aekan hadn't much to do, but he wasn't interested in doing anything anyway. Tarka, too, didn't find herself occupied. She had worked quite hard since her return and everything was up to snuff from what she could see. She decided it would be a good time to rest and she sat down, lowering her head with a sigh.

She turned her back to the ocean shore, padding back to camp. When Viridian entered, she went to talk with her second command. They disappeared into her den, talking to one another quietly.

One of the young raptors dashed by Aekan and he snapped his jaws. The raptor was spooked and stumbled, but quickly recovered.

Viridian stayed in her den as her second command left. She laid down in her nest and tried her best to relax, but to no avail.
