Deep in the dense forest of Graflu, life went about as normal. As normal as a place filled with 'mythical' beasts could get, anyway. A black-haired boy gazed up at the sky, face obscured by the skull of a deer. He had a bow and quiver slung over his back, and knives at his waist. A hunter at work. He tilted his head, listening, straining to hear the scuffling of footsteps or the beat of wings. When only the wind disturbed the silence, he huffed and began walking away, spinning one of his knives in his fingers, keeping his head bowed.
In another area of the woodlands, a faint shape sprinted along. A brown weasel, hardly visible, speeding through undergrowth he knew so well. Suddenly, the weasel took flight on feathery wings, and glided under the canopy of oak leaves. A clawed creature noticed it pass and lashed out, startled. The weasel squeaked. "Hey! Watch the wings!" He spat before disappearing completely. Now invisible, he let the wind carry him, enjoying the breeze through his fur and feathers. He thought back to the beast he had encountered and wondered if he would ever find someone, or something, he could join with. Others of his species had scolded him for not bonding yet. He was one of few who remained alone by his age. But he shook the thought away. He knew he'd find his partner eventually.
Perched on the top of a tree, silent, gazing at the sun through milky white eyes, was a bird. It stood on long, thin legs, similarly shaped beak pointed directly at the orb of light. It's white and red feathers were clean and soft, and glimmered in the sun's rays. Then, a noise disturbed her. Her head snapped towards the direction the sound had come from, the colourful crest on her head flaring. It was silent. She deemed it safe to relax and the crest flattened back against her head. She resumed her silent vigil, unblinking eyes returning to the sky.

In the forest, there a spot considered to have no light shining through the treetops. Very few creatures walked through that spot. Reasons why? Well there was Kitsune living there, loving the peace and quiet. She liked being alone at times, and this was one of them. The Kitsune created a small light, only one that she can see and use. It illuminated the small area in a purple hue, then started changing colors. The nine-tailed fox was in the middle, her tails splayed out around her. She muttered a few words and the light grew smaller. "If only I had something to do..."
In another part of a forest, there was a griffin relaxing in the sunlight. The only thing different is its shadow, which had ice blue eyes. The shadow looked at the griffin, and as soon it was sure the big creature was relaxed, he plucked a few feather that sent the griffin up and growling in surprise and pain. Before the shadow was see, he ran, taking the feathers with him. Then he stopped when he was in the tree tops, a shadowy place that shone very little light. He looked at the feathers before nodding and putting them down. The shadow leaned back against the trunk of the tree and relaxed.

The boy stiffened instinctively when he neared the place he heard a Kitsune lived. He had never trusted the creatures, too unpredictable. He swerved to avoided the area and continued walking. Soon after he heard a rustling and watched as a beautiful white horse trotted past, single horn glimmering and mane shining. He put away the blade and grabbed his bow, taking an arrow from the quiver and readying it. Prepared, he started to follow it. He did lose track of it, but not for long. He followed the imprints its hooves made in the ground. It had stopped in a clearing to bask and graze. He pulled back on the string of his bow and let the arrow fly. It found its mark. The horse neighed in surprise and tried to flee, but didn't make it far before collapsing. The boy smiled in triumph under his mask an pulled out a knife to skin the animal.
The bird turned away from the sun and shook out its wings. It paused for a moment, then jumped from the branch and glided to the ground below. From there it made its way along, feeling around carefully with its beak. Occasionally it stumbled over a root or bumped into a tree, but for the most part, it found its way without issue. It didn't seem worried by how vulnerable it was with its weakness. In fact, it walked with a sense of pride and wisdom, head held high. This was no ordinary bird.
The ghostly weasel slowed when he noticed the area ahead was oddly dark. He landed and walked closer, curious but cautious. He could sense that there was life nearby. Even if he was nervous he pushed ahead, on the off chance that whatever creature was dwelling here could be the one he was meant to join.

The Kitsune sat up and summoned a scroll and some colored inks. The light grew bigger just as she dipped her tails in the inks and started painting. A strange pastime for her, but a time-spending pastime it was. "A head there...a body there.." She mumbled and continued to mumble as she painted. The Kitsune didn't care what happened outside her little home, either death or life, she stayed because of balance. A balance where things grew and died naturally around her, and the mysteries she kept to herself. Some mysteries were ancient, new, and just fantasies. "I wonder how much older I'll get.." She wondered, her concentration not leaving her painting.
Minutes passed and the creature decided to do something that would make his blood run. The shadow leaped down from the tree and made its way over to a dark little area. He knew what lived there, and what lived there knew him. Not friends, just acquaintances. Of course, whenever he visited, he would always cause some trouble, or none, depending on what the creature was doing. As he slid into the shadows, he noticed the faint light above the creature, the Kitsune. He walked closer to see what she was doing, taking note that he was noticed when he entered her small, dark area. Eventually, he decided to sit next to her and watch the scroll receive an appearance, one tail-brush stroke at a time.

(Mind if Abrevynen bonds with Kowara? Doesn't have to happen now. I just feel like it would be funny XD) He crept along, stopping suddenly when he saw a nine-tailed fox ahead of him. He also felt another presence, though he couldn't see anyone else around. He made sure he was still invisible, then pushed closer, curious but ever so cautious. His wings twitched with anticipation.
The boy finished skinning the equine. He removed a sack from his shoulder and took the meat, then he closed it and hauled it back onto his shoulder and tossed the newly skinned pelt over his body. His figure deformed and changed shape until he had morphed into the animal he had just killed. Pleased with his new form, he nodded and sprinted back home. When he arrived he changed back into a human and sat on the ground to count his winnings. Four pelts and food to last him a while. His eyes held a soft glimmer of pleasure.
"Kouhane." Someone said, startling the bird. She spun her head around, though her lifeless eyes didn't help her in this situation. She recognized the voice, however. "Gah... I told you not to do that, Mezika. What do you want?" "Watch the beak! You nearly poked my eye out!" "I can't see, fur brain." "Oh. Right. Sorry." She felt a paw rest on her beak and push her back gently. "There. I thought you could sense things better than that, Kouhane." "Usually I can. Just not when I'm scared out of my feathers." Kouhane sneered in reply.

(Yeah, that's alright with me. And I wonder how that will go)
The shadow mumbled a few words towards the Kitsune as she finished her painting. Out of all the things she could have done, she drew a cherry blossom tree with a lake and mountains in the background. There were a few critters at the base of the tree. The Kitsune nodded and put two, small black marks on the corner of the painting. The shadow nodded before saying, "Pretty cool, never thought you could paint like this." "You've only seen my little doodles." She replied, standing up and stretching. The ink on her tails disappeared, and so did the ink pots themselves. The Kitsune looked around her little area before deciding to hang the scroll on a nearby tree. "Mind if I stay awhile, Kowara?" The shadow asked, making his ice blue eyes glow. "Not at all, Fausch. But you have to get me something to eat." "Deal."

(Sweet. I'll just do it now because it's easier, though a little sudden. It's up to you whether she notices or not.) The weasel jumped when he heard the second voice, but wasn't distracted for long. He turned his attention back to the Kitsune. He felt a tug on his pelt. His elders had described this feeling. When they had first laid eyes on the creature they were meant to join with, they felt a tug in their being, urging them to meld with those whom they saw. He was a little nervous, though. What would happen to him? He shook his head. He couldn't worry about these things now. He took a deep breath and relaxed. His body deformed into an invisible smoke and their souls instantly bonded.
Mezika chuckled. "You sure can look menacing when you want to." "What do you want, Mezika?" "Just wanted to say hi." "You're kind never has such simple requests." "Oh, you know me so well! Yeah, you're right, I do wants something." "So why are you asking me?" "You may not have all of your abilities, but you're still a magical creature..." "Get to the point." "Well, I want a feather from your head." Kouhane squawked indignantly. "I don't think so! What do you want it for anyway?" Despite not being able to see, she could picture the mischievous smirk on Mezika's furry face. "... Things."
The boy leaned back and sharpened his knives. He hummed quietly as he worked, hands moving in a routine fashion that showed he had done this many times.

Kowara coughed, her eyes turning yellow in surprise. "What's wrong?" Fausch asked, walking up to her and passing her an apple. She didn't reply as she picked up the fruit and started eating. Minutes that were filled with silence passed before she said answered the shadowy being. "Something touched my soul. Weird thing to say, but someone changed it and..." Fausch jumped as her eyes changed into a reddish tone. "Hey, calm down now! No need for fires." He said, defensively. He backed up even further when her markings started to flow and climbed a nearby tree. "I want to know who did it. Throughout the years of my long life this never happened." "Calm down! Jeez! Worse thing that could have happen was that you lost your body!" He blinked when her markings faded. "You have a point." He nearly fell out of the tree when she laid down. "You emotional fur all!" He snapped.

He was startled by the sudden surge of feelings he was greeted with. He wasn't sure whether or not to introduce himself. The Kitsune obviously wasn't pleased. And he had the feeling it would get worse once she realized the extent of what had been done. But he decided now was better than later. That's when he realized he couldn't see. He panicked slightly, then, through instinct, he triggered an ability that let him see through her eyes. He remembered his teachings. He willed to return to his body and he did, once again an invisible ferret on the ground in the forest. He could still feel the strength of the bond, though. His wings twitched, then he nodded. He allowed himself to be visible. "Uh, hello." He said, prepared to hide should he be attacked.
Kouhane scoffed at her. "I don't know what I was expecting... Well, the answer is no. Leave me alone." Despite her harsh attitude, Kouhane didn't actually despise Mezika. She didn't despise anyone. No one could push her so far for her to consider them an enemy, or even dislike them. She was quite fond of Mezika. "Now go bug someone else." She spat and continued walking. "Jeez. Who ruffled her feathers?" Mezika muttered.

She lifted her head and looked at the ferret. "So you're the one who did it." She said, creating a light so she could see him better. "What's your purpose ferret?" She asked. Her tails twitched as they waved in the air. Fausch jumped down from the tree, knowing he could be seen because of the light. "I suggest you pick your words carefully." He said, "Kowara here is very... Unpredictable with many things."

"Um... My purpose?" He asked. "To do what I just did. Er, please don't hurt me, because you'll feel the pain too." He shuffled his weight awkwardly, a little frightened. He was more scared for her than himself. If she attacked him she would hurt herself, and then they would both be writhing in agony on the ground. Imagining it made him feel light in the head.

(Kinda scimmed through that.. Heh yea)
In the forest, Crystal and Max chatted. Forbidden they played together. The one whose name was Crystal had red hair and gray blue eyes sitting on the grass as her dark black wings were ruffles against the ground she asked Max, who was a tall young boy leaning against a tree with white wings behind him and a halo, "its been a while how are you?". Max shrugged in response as he toused his dark brown hair out of his eyes. They looked around as silence except for the rustles of the leaves bestowed upon them.

"Interesting..." Kowara stood up and walked slowly towards the ferret. "So, if I perhaps burned you, I could feel it too?" She chuckled darkly. "I've lived through centuries of chaotic times and pain. Feeling fire isn't my problem." Fausch stayed curios, wondering what would happen.

"You would feel the exact same pain I felt." He confirmed, nodding. "But if you aren't worried about the pain I can just do this." He vanished and returned once again to her body. "I'm a part of your soul now." He spoke into her thoughts. "Get rid of me and..." He winced. He didn't enjoy the tales of those who had been bonded with and one day lost their new companion.
Kouhane stalked through the woods alone. She paused by a stream and bent down to take a drink, poking her beak just under the surface of the water.

"I don't care what happens to me. I just hate it when someone doesn't ask for permission before doing what they want to do." She replied out loud. Fausch stayed quiet, wondering how this would play out.
