Abrevynen sat up on his hind paws and snatched the berry with his front ones, munching on it. "Hmm, nightmares are no fun. Let's hope it's not an omen, I don't like those!" He too looked over at Vezolth, continuing to gnaw on his berry. "I hope his wounds are better today," he commented.

"They were fresh yesterday, it may take awhile for them to completely heal." She kept her head down as she munched on berries.

"Yeah, but maybe the pain won't be quite as bad," Abrevynen said optimistically, finishing his berry. "Anyway, what are the plans for today? Anything fun, or shall we just see how it goes?"

Kowara didn't respond, her attention lost in her mind. Her eyes had turned clear, meaning she wasn't spiritually active.

Abrevynen sighed as Kowara grew unresponsive. He hopped onto her head and looked at her, tilting his head when he saw her clear eyes. "Are you alive in there?" he asked, tapping her on the nose.

Her eyes changed to black minutes later, blinking when he saw Abrevynen on her head. "Did I miss something?" she asked.

"I just asked what we were doing today," Abrevynen answered. "Where'd your head go off to just now, anyway? You didn't respond at all!"

She blinked once more, before sighing. "I must have disconnected, sorry about that." Kowara stood up and stretched, yawning once more.

"Disconnected?" Abrevynen repeated. He'd never heard such a term, and it came off awkward on his tongue. "What do you mean by that?"

"Kitsunes are spiritual creatures. So when they zone out, or are in deep thought, they disconnect from the world and go into their own. Sometimes, some Kitsunes do it and try to take over inanimate objects to freak others out." Kowara replied. "The longer you've lived, the more you're known to 'disconnect' from reality."

"Oh! Now that is cool. It isn't something I'd be able to do, though, because I am nothing but a spirit, really." He flexed his wings, stretching out the strong muscles in his shoulders. "I'd phase out of existence completely!"

"True, and since I disconnected, did you feel anything when I was out?" She put the basket of berries away, then sat down and groomed herself.

Abrevynen nodded. "Yeah, actually, I did. I started to feel really cold and empty inside, but I ignored it." Abrevynen hopped down and grabbed another berry, biting off a piece. "I didn't really like it..."

"You feel empty, I've felt it before oddly enough," she finished grooming and transformed, steading herself when she was up on two legs. "I need to use this form more, it took me a long time to use it." She made a mirror appear and frown, noticing her silver hair have crimson ends. The change was one she didn't expect, and didn't appreciate. "Might as well go for a walk, right?"

After cleaning his wings and grooming his fur, Abrevynen nodded. "Yeah, morning walks are the best!" he said. He flapped up and perched on Kowara's shoulder. "Let's go!"

She nodded and exited her home, making sure the barrier was still up as she walked away. Kowara's eyes changed to a light brown, the meaning of the color was unknown to her. The forest was quiet as she walked, gazing around at the scenery before her.

Abrevynen took in the quiet forest, disturbed only by the occasional shuffling of small animals in the bushes or the fluttering of winged animals in the trees. "What a calm morning!"

Kowara nodded, walking for a few more moments before stopping beside a tree. She leaned against the trunk and held her head, which had started to ache. "W-what?" Before she knew it, she was sitting against the tree with her head in her hands. "Y-you there, A-Abrevynen?"

Abrevynen was hit with a similar pain and he stumbled, losing his balance and falling off of Kowara's shoulder. He landed safely, but couldn't seem to get back on his feet. "Y-yes, Kowara. R-right h-here." He paused to take a breath and then asked, "Wh-what is this? It hurts..."

She whined before becoming quiet, her eyes turning clear once more as she 'disconnected.' In her own world, it was a living nightmare. She tried running from whatever it was that chased her, but couldn't move as she was eventually swallowed up by darkness. Her spirit cried out, even though no one could hear.
