Abrevynen let out a choking sound as something vicious clamped vice-like jaws on their invisible bond, and in turn on his body. He squirmed against the unseen force, but it was stronger than he, and the fight drained him. He got to his paws and then fell short, falling back to the ground. "Ko-Kowara," he breathed. Never had he heard of such a thing happening, where one of his kind was internally cut off from the person with whom they bonded with. He couldn't sense any of her thoughts or feelings, but he tried to send his emotions to her, hoping that maybe he could jolt something within her as unlikely as it was.

She fell to the side, limb. Here eyes were void of any color, but the signs that she was still alive was her short breaths and her heart that beat once a minute. Kowara remained trapped in her living nightmare, knowing she couldn't do anything to escape since she had no hope. Never had she heard of this same event happening to another Kitsune. Then the thought of her past turned up, could it possibly be that? Could it be the dark times she had come back to haunt her, or possibly leaving solitude? She believed it was leaving solitude, since the nightmares had only returned when she interacted with new creatures that she befriended.

Abrevynen sighed, defeated, and let his head rest on the ground, silently begging for Kowara to get a hold of herself before something extra bad happened.
Zilius often took walks in the morning. It was the time when the world felt most active, and when prey was the easiest to catch, in a lot of cases. He had been chasing after a bird, moving quickly on light feet as it glided through the air above him, when he caught sight of a woman laying on the ground, and her ghostly companion squirming at her side. He stopped short, letting his readied arrow fly without meaning to. It struck the ground at his feet and he walked past it, kneeling next to the Kitsune girl he recognized from the day before. He propped her back up into a sitting position. "Hey! What in the world...?" He looked at her, with no idea what to do. "Hey, snap out of it." His words were loud and spoken in a growl.

She didn't respond, her head rolling to the side as she moved, her eyes still open. Kowara's spirit felt the movement, and a very faint voice. She shrieked out once more, hoping that somehow her voice was heard as she remained trap. With the little power she had, she managed to utter out a quiet "help.." Kowara was thrown back into the nightmare she called her mind without being able to say anymore.

Zilius sighed. He really didn't have much of a choice. He collected his stray arrow and then slung his bow over his shoulder. Now, with his hands free, he picked Kowara and Abrevynen up and began carrying them away, towards his hut, as he muttered a few curses to himself. When he arrived he set Kowara down on his bed, Abrevynen sprawled out on her chest, and he started thinking about what to do. He had a book around somewhere, he remembered, and went to go find it and see if it detailed anything like this and what he could do about it. He flipped through it, scanning each page for key words and nothing more.

Kowara kept trying to break through her spiritual trance, terrified of what she was seeing before her. She kept yelling curses and pleads as she tried finding a way out. Sadly, she wasn't having much like as she kept striving.

Zilius sighed, coming up with next to nothing. He sat next to Kowara. "I don't know how to help," he murmured, cursing again. He looked around the room for something he could do. She was obviously locked in some other world, like she was in an intense hypnotic trance. He checked the book again, his eye catching on an incantation that might fit the situation, said to bring a sleeping mind to wakefulness. He read through the instructions and sighed, closing his eyes as he began to quietly chant the words.

She almost gave in when her small, nightmare world started to fade. Kowara shut her eyes and lurched upwards, clinging onto whatever or whoever she reached as she breathed and choked out. She didn't know, or care that she was clinging onto Zilius, she was just happy to have returned to reality. Her body shook as she held back the need to cry.

Abrevynen gasped as he felt the tight hold on his frail body release and he simply laid there, exhausted from the battle. Zilius jumped when he was suddenly grabbed onto, nearly falling out of his chair. He looked down at Kowara with a look of disapproval, not enjoying this new situation in the slightest. "Um. Excuse me. Please let go," he said, too bothered by the contact to feel very much relief. His bright blue eyes could be seen from under his deer skull mask and they were narrowed, confused and annoyed.

Kowara only responded by tightening her grip. "I-I don't want to.." she whimpered quietly, letting the tears fall. Never had she shown this side of her, or weakness, to another being in her life. "I don't want t-to go b-back there..."

Zilius huffed, arms in the air, uncertain of what to do. "You aren't going back anywhere. Now please. Get off." He turned his head away, growing impatient with her and feeling generally upset with himself for a plethora of reasons. He pulled his mask down completely, hiding his face in the skull. He was careful he didn't hit anything or anyone with the antlers. This was exactly the type of thing he despised about making connections. He hated closeness. He wondered what ever happened to his completely solitary life.

"Then why did you help w-when you didn't care?" She asked bitterly, staying still in her position. Her face was yet, and she decided it was better than wet fur. "You clearly hate my presence, avoid me at all costs. Why help me when you didn't care?" Her words were stronger as she repeated them, her breath trying to even out.

He sighed, running his hands through his dark black hair as he looked for the right words to say. "No, wait. I didn't say anything like that," he pointed out, resisting the urge to grumble. "All I asked was that you let go..." His words were muffled by the mask and some of them were hard to make out with his quiet voice. "I didn't want to help - no, that's not right. I didn't want to want to help." He was confusing himself at this point, and wanted little more than to be alone.

She looked back, her eyes narrowed and a dark blue. "Then what did you want to achieve from this!?" She question, rubbing her eyes with her sleeve. Kowara was confused as well, but didn't show as she waited for an answer.

"I wanted to achieve..." He trailed off, trying to find the answer. He wasn't able to conjure up some silly lie in his state, so he spat out the words, "I wanted to achieve helping!" The conversation was perhaps going in circles, but Zilius wasn't the best at conversations. "Or, perhaps, it was the result that comes from helping. I don't know..."

"You want a reward, that's what comes from helping!" She spat, sniffling. "Vezolth gave you a reward when you patched his wounds. That doesn't explain why you're helping me!" Kowara gestured to herself. She was thankful for the hunter's help, but she couldn't understand why. "You avoid me because I'm a Kitsune, I can be random out of all things! You're a hunter, you hunt other creatures. Wouldn't your first instinct be to kill me!?" She couldn't wrap her head around the situation at the moment, not that she wanted to even use her head considering what happened moments ago.

Zilius shook his head again. "No, not a reward. That's not all that comes from it. I didn't help the Quetzalcoatl expecting a reward either. I just didn't like seeing him hurt... Is that a crime?" He asked in a slightly angry voice, pushing his mask against his face and shaking his head. "I don't want to have this conversation..."

"Well we're having it! Or else nothing is answered," She snapped. "You don't like seeing Vezolth hurt, I get it. But what about me? As I said, you avoided me and wanted nothing to do with me. What's with the sudden change?" Kowara had lowered her tone, but she wasn't going to be pushed down easily.

"I avoid you because I avoid everyone. It's that simple. The more we shared encounters, the more I tried avoiding you, because I hate making connections with people." He cursed some, then continued, "you never struck me as the social type either, can you understand at all? Making connections; making friends. You worry about friends. You stop worrying about yourself because you're worrying about them. It's a sure-fire way to get yourself killed. But I couldn't help but save you. Why? I was worrying! Why? I don't know! Are we done yet?!"

"Why do you stick to avoiding others? It's horrible.." Kowara ignored his last question and looked down. "I've been in solitude for centuries, because I grew up with my own kind pushing me away. I believed that everyone else, creature or human, was the same was and avoided them. Creatures and humans I did meet on my travels, I used, believing that they would use me as well. When I decided to live here, I made my home as ominous as possible and stayed in there for centuries, only coming out to stretch my legs and gather food. Then one day, a ferret came into my life and showed me that friends were needed. It may have been an unusual way of how he did, but she showed me nonetheless. He takes care of me and I take care of him. What are you going to do when you're stuck in a situation where you need help, yet you have no one to call for? Or are you just that stubborn and prideful?" She looked back up, here eyes a now lighter blue.
