He hesitated when they neared the giant tree. "Someone's close." He whispered.
The young hunter was standing at the base of the tree, taking off pieces of bark and wood with one of his knifes. There was a large branch laying on the ground beside him.

She crouched down and slowly walked forward. "If needed, say the word and I can paralyze them." Kowara said, her hands started glowing faintly.

Kouhane squawked indignantly, raising her orange beak in an irritated way. "I would hope so! You younglings should know better than to be disrespectful to Kouhane the Wise!" She wasn't truly angry though, in fact a thankful smile was etched onto her long, sharp beak.
The boy stopped in his work when he sensed a presence. It was familiar, but he couldn't quite place it. He spun, holding his knife in a defensive position. "Who's there?" He called gently, not wanting to get into unnecessary conflict if he didn't have to.
Abrevynen hesitated in his advance. 'He isn't a threat, he's just being protective...' He said telepathically to Kowara. 'Should we approach him?' He made himself completely invisible and waited for the kitsune's advice.

'If we stay hidden, he'll attack. But keep yourself hidden, just in case it goes wrong.' She replied in her mind before standing up and walking forward until she could be seen. "Just a woman taking a forest stroll, do not worry hunter." Kowara said.

He calmed down, but still, something seemed odd about the woman. He decided to dismiss it. "Oh. My apologies, miss." He lowered his weapon and gave a small bow of apology and respect. "It can be dangerous out here if you aren't careful. I'm Zilius." He pulled on the tip of the skull he wore on his head, making the shadow it cast cover more of his face, feeling a bit defensive. He wasn't used to interacting with others.

She tucked her silver hair behind her ears before saying, "It's nice to meet you, Hunter Zilius. I'm Kowara." She smiled, knowing she never spoke of her name to someone outside of her den until now. "And I am careful, I always am." Kowara's eyes changed from a hazel to more of an amber color when she blinked. 'If you need to, and can, go ahead and check on your kind...if they're still here,' she thought, hoping Abrevynen would hear.

A chuckle from Abrevynen echoed in Kowara's mind. 'Way ahead of you. I'm checking the uppermost branches now, but all seems quiet. I suppose they've all made the move to the new home.'
Zilius noticed the colour change and lifted his head slightly. He knew something was off. He didn't make any sign that he had noticed though. "That's good." He lifted the branch and carefully bent it back and forth, testing the flexibility and strength.

'It's better to lose a home than a life.' She tilted her head when Zilius lifted the branch and bent it. "What are you going to craft?" Kowara asked, leaning against a tree.

"Hm?" He asked, looking up. "Why do you ask?" His voice was low and a little hostile, but that was normal for him, getting defensive for no reason.
'You have a point.' Abrevynen agreed. 'Hm, completely empty, save for a bird or two.'

"I like to craft, either it's a carving or a weapon, it's a good way to use your skills and talent. For example," she held out a piece of deer antler. "Antler and bone are good materials to create something sharp, either it's a knife or arrowhead."

Zilius nodded. "I'm aware. They don't wear easy like wood does. This," he raised the branch, "is for a bow. The wood of these trees is good for bows."
Kouhane snorted and turned her head away. "Well, I'm blind, but I know that there is a male and a female here. An angel, that would be the boy, and a fallen angel, the girl. Am I correct?"
