He looked at her with a questioning look, then at the shadow wolf he summoned. "An old man can't summon anything," he snapped his fingers and the wolf took off. Without another moment, he started following it. L could easily spot the creature as it searched, it stopped in a small clearing, waiting and searching for scents. He watched as it moved around, noting that this was one of his best creations. "Find a big one, a few if you want more than one." The shadow wolf seemed to nod before going back to searching.

May straightened, blinking in surprise as the wolf darted off. She quickly followed after L. "I'd imagine some could," she argued, though there wasn't much fire in her voice, as she was clearly distracted by the beast L had summoned. It looked as though this hunting session wouldn't go exactly as expected. She pushed her streak of blue hair from her face, bow ready in her hands. She felt a little uncertain now. She wasn't sure what to expect.

The wolf darted out again, and L quickly followed behind. They stopped when they came across a heard of caribou. He duck down in the bush, with the wolf. L unsheathed the dagger and held it tightly in his hand, ready to run out when needed. The shadow wolf stayed by his side, awaiting orders. "Two should last for awhile, when there's only two of us to eat them." He looked behind him and waited for May, waiting for her to catch up.

May kept close behind him, never straying. She gripped her bow in one hand, an arrow in the other, ready whenever she was needed. Quietly, she eyes the caribou, keen eyes scanning the herd to pick out the best one to kill. They were large animals, so even a smaller one would make good meals for a while, but a part of her by default wanted to always get the most out of a hunt. Of course, she wouldn't act without L's word. She gave him an expectant look, waiting for him to give some form of order.

"Pick one, and shoot." He muttered casting his gaze from one to the next. "Whatever you fire, the wolf will make sure it doesn't run." L didn't wait for an answer as he walked off, getting into a new position as he waited for the herd to run. He already had an eye on one, and he knew it's been awhile since he hunted one that large. His grip on the dagger tightened, ready to dash I'm at any moment.

May nodded. So she had free reign? Fantastic. She readied an arrow but didn't pull back the string just yet, letting it sit at the ready as she circled slowly and quietly around the herd, getting into a better position so she could easily hit the one she wanted. It was a female, judging by it's antlers, but it was bulky. Narrowing her eyes, she held her breath, tugging back on the string. Steadying her hand, focusing in, aiming... She fired, and the arrow zipped off, finding it's mark directly through the neck of the one she'd been aiming for. She closed her hand into a fist in a gesture of triumph, smiling.

The wolf sprinted off after the caribou that May shot, bringing it down quickly while the rest of the herd scattered. L had dashed in and took down the one he had eyes on. It was a large male, which did take a bit of a challenge to kill. When the rest of the herd was gone, he walked back over to May. "Nice catch," he said, before snapping his fingers and making the two caribou disappear. "They'll be at the treehouse, come on." With that said, he walked back home with the wolf by his side.

May watched curiously as the two large mammals vanished into thin air, then followed after him. "Mm, can't wait to eat..." she mumbled, patting her stomach. She couldn't actually recall the last time she'd eaten. The thought made her stomach rumble eagerly, and she picked up the pace a bit, looking forward to tucking into the meaty meal that awaited. She'd never actually eaten caribou, but she wasn't a picky eater. She was sure it tasted delicious.

"How do you like your meat?" He asked, giving the shadow wolf a flaming bone before it disappeared. L climbed up into the treehouse and quickly skinning and cutting it up. He set the antlers aside for later, and waited for an answer. Part of the caribou was on the counter, and the rest was in the fridge. He remembered the last time he cooked, but shook his head to rid the memory.

May climbed up after him, setting her bow down on a table and examining the meat thoughtfully. "Rare," she answered as her stomach gave another expectant rumble. She snorted and looked at him. "How long until it's ready, hm? Or will you use magical means to cook it instantly?" She crossed her arms, smirking. Then she turned away. "Either way, just hurry up. I'm starved!"

"It'll take ten minutes, so be patient and do whatever you want," he replied. L grabbed the necessary items he needed, including varies spices. When he had everything out, he hung up his coat and started cooking. Every once in awhile, he would glance outside like he was expecting something, or someone, to come out from the shadow. He muttered some of his thoughts to himself as he cooked.

May nodded in acknowledgement, though she was still facing away from from him, and then walked out of the room. She decided it would do her good to explore a bit and so, flicking her hair out of her face, she began wandering about, creeping into every room she could in the span of ten minutes. It certainly distracted her from her hunger, which was really her goal. That, and she was curious about how Mr. Creepy Old Guy lived. She also wondered where she'd be crashing for the night. Hopefully somewhere decently comfy, though she'd certainly done her fair share of sleeping in uncomfortable places. She could hope.

The door to his room was closed, and the air inside was chilled. The main room was starting to warm up from the heat from the cooking and smoke went out of the window. L hummed as he cooked, finding it relaxing to cook a meal for someone other than himself. He looked out at the dark landscape when he heard faint roars, thinking it was just two of his kind fighting. "We've had enough wars and I lived through enough," he muttered as he returned his focus to cooking. He had to remember if the dark sapphire blue sheets on his dark oak bed was clean, along with most of his clothes. "Where did I put that picture?"

May could smell the cooking and paused to take it in, growing impatient. It was such a lovely smell. She shook her head and continued wandering around, stepping back into the main room and sitting down, making herself comfortable. She took the time to properly neaten up her hair, quietly humming a tune as she did so, then idly looked at her hands. There were a few callouses on her fingers from various things, and some dirt was stuck under her nails. She narrowed her eyes and lowered her hands again, sighing. She quickly grew bored of just sitting around waiting and called out, "Hey, you almost done?"

"I've been done for five minutes, where were you?" He had already put his portion on his plate, and had her plate beside the cooked meat. "Take as much as you want, we have enough to last two weeks," he said before walking away from the main room. He checked all of the rooms, and sighed when he saw that he only had one bedroom to spare. When L was done eating, he started cleaning up the room.

"Whaaat?" she exclaimed, appalled. "Jeez, why didn't you tell me?" she asked in an irritated tone, getting up to fetch her meal. She took her fill before flopping down into a chair, eagerly starting to eat. Because of how hungry she'd been, it didn't take her long to clean her plate. She set it down when she was finished and leaned back with a content sigh. "Hey, you aren't a bad cook," she called idly, not really caring if he heard or not.

He cleaned the room up as best as he could, which there wasn't much to clean in the first place. With a snap of his fingers, the bed sheets were changed. L looked around the room seeing if he missed something, and when he didn't, he went to the bathroom. He quickly cleaned that as well before going back to the main room. "There's a bedroom you can stay in, and a bathroom across it, use it as much as you want. I'll be in my study if you need anything." With that said, he left the room and went to his study, which was by his room.

"Yeah, alright," May muttered in a dismissive manner, giving her hand a wave. She waited for him to leave the room, then lazily hopped to her feet, trekking to the bedroom he'd prepared for her. She yawned, arms stretching high above her head and fingers locking before they returned once more to her sides. She peeped into the room, taking a moment to examine it, then wandered inside, flopping down onto the bed. It felt like it had been a long time since she slept, especially somewhere so comfy... Her eyes felt heavy all of a sudden, and she rubbed them in defiance, unwilling to doze off just yet. But, inevitably, she gave in to the urge and drifted away into sleep.

He looked over some papers and some files. The info he was receiving kept getting him more and more worried. "Why are Hunters finding their way here? That's impossible..." L muttered to himself. Time passed as he looked over the papers and files, before putting everything away. Before he left the study, his phone rang and he quickly picked it up. "Hey, are you..." He went silent as the person on the phone talked to him. "That far out? That's fine, but it'll be awhile since I have someone to take care of... She's human, mostly harmless... Yeah, hide the phone so they don't see it. Take care, brother."

(Skip~!)
May woke up in the morning with a loud yawn, pushing herself into a sitting position. "Oh boy, my hair is a mess," she muttered, trying to sort out the tangled tresses of blond and blue and purple. She wondered if she could find a brush somewhere in the house. She left the bedroom and wandered into the bathroom, looking around. "Oi, creepy guy! I forgot your name and don't care right now! But is there a brush somewhere in this stupid place?" she shouted. Apparently she was too lazy to actually hunt around for one herself. Besides, any excuse to yell offhanded insults was an excuse she'd gladly take up. In the meantime, she rinsed her face, wiping away any signs of fatigue left over from the night before.
