(At least it took you awhile, otherwise I did a horrible job at being subtle!)
The dragon's eyes widened as the hunter cried in pain, and managed to shuffle and slam a paw down on him, cutting him off as his head slammed to the ground. It groaned and laid back, sighing out in relief and surprise. When it calmed down, as best as the dragon could anyway, he looked around for May before giving up and laying it's head down. The reinforced dragons bane bullets weren't comfortable, and only caused the dragon more pain as it moved.

(You did a pretty good job, considering I only noticed a few posts ago! :3)
When May saw that the hunter had been disposed of, she emerged from her hiding place, approaching the dragon with utmost caution. She knew she, as a human, wasn't liked among their kind, and she didn't want it to turn and attack her. She slowly circled around to the front of it, keeping her distance. She didn't want to startle it either. "Um, hey, hey. Don't eat me, please, I just shot that guy for you, and that'd be a crappy way of saying thanks." She smacked herself on the forehead immediately after the words left her mouth, but she didn't try and phrase the sentence better. She didn't even know if dragons knew English! She would have moved to try and help the dragon, who was obviously in pain, but she wanted to wait until she was assured she wouldn't have her body smashed into a pulp by the thing's huge paws before going anywhere near it.

(Mission accomplished then!)
"I'm not. Dragons don't work that way," he rumbled, grunting as he tried to sit up. The dragon sat up with a grunt, hissing as the pain continued to course through him. "Dragons bane, a deadly and disgusting herb. I know a couple that have grown a tolerance for it, but it's a rare gene to have." It hissed as it smelled the sickly sweet scent that was it's blood. "The smell is disgusting, and humans believed it could cure diseases! It only made them stupider and mad, making them die from drinking too much!"

May jumped when the dragon spoke, but hearing him talk did relax her. At least, if she was attacked, her pleas for mercy wouldn't fall on virtually deaf ears. It didn't seem like she would be attacked either. Considering it safe, she approached. "Alrighty. Gotcha. Deadly, disgusting, madness, and death, cool. But what can I do about those wounds?" She looked at the dragon's tough hide, which was now wrought with injuries. "Should I try and remove those bullets? They're probably doing a number on your muscles right about now, mhm." She still had that stick laying around somewhere. It would work for prying the bullets out of the flesh, if she was allowed to attempt it.

"That would be wonderful, please do," the dragon laid his head down. It's claws dug into the ground, watching as his leg seemed to twitch. The creature seemed slightly amused, yet it didn't show it as it laid there. Thoughts wandered its mind as laid there, wondering about what to do or say. The only thing he could do, was lay and wait. In the position the dragon was in, he couldn't do anything.

May nodded and vanished back into the bushes to get the stick. Grasping it firmly in two hands, she returned to the dragon and huffed. "Alright. Brace yourself." She raised her arms and worked the stick into one of the bullet holes, trying her best to urge the bullet out of its new found nest within the dragon's flesh. She got one out after a short struggle. The rest were much easier. The second bullet dropped to the ground. Then the third. The remainder followed shortly after. May backed up, looking the dragon over. "Did I get 'em all?"

The dragon nodded, before raising its head, "You did. Also, didn't I tell you to stay put?" It had decided that it was either now or never, or else explaining its wounds later in its other form would be difficult. Overall, this was the only decision he could resort to. The consequences would be dealt with later.

"Pardon me?" May asked, feeling offended. "You've never spoken to me in my life, and you're telling me what I should and shouldn't be doing!" Then her eyes trailed away from his face and to his scales, which were such a familiar colour. Why, though? "Oh... Oh, oh! Ohh! ... Wait, seriously? You're telling me you're a frickin' dragon? What the heck man, you coulda told me earlier!" She knocked him on the nose with her stick, brows lowered and mouth curled into a frown. "Jeez! You made me ask if you were gonna eat me and everything! And how did you even get into this mess? I can't believe I had to save you, you big scaly idiotic excuse for a guy!" She sniffed at him, out of insults but not out of fire, leading her to simply glare as she waited for a reply.

L simply shrugged, amused. "It's better to find fruit up high in the trees, so I rather climb with claws than hands. And remember what I said before? Dragons punish other dragons if they've been with a human, so if you had no idea what I was, you would have been safer. They don't punish stupidity," he stood up and stretched his limbs, happy that the bullets where no longer a problem. L went and buried the bodies, along with the guns and bloodied bullets. "Also, they ambushed me when I was coming back, and would have shot you with no hesitance. They kill for greed, May, just like I told you." The conversation for him, at the moment, was just pure amusement to him.

May groaned when she heard the phrase 'they don't punish stupidity'. "Hey! That's just mean, I couldn't help it if I didn't know," she complained quietly, arms crossed. She appeared to be in quite the foul mood now. "Yeah, yeah, I get it, they'd-a shot me just as quick as they'd kill you. Kinda wish I'd just stayed at the fire like you told me and let you get shot dead." She muttered the last bit under her breath, tapping her foot on the ground. "Can you shut up now and we can move on with our lives? Did you even get any fruit, or did you lose it when you were attacked, you freaky blue-eyed -" she let out a string of curses following that and faced away from him, not even expecting a reply.

He puffed out a cloud of smoke. "Then you would have been killed by another creature. And yes," he pulled out a bag, filled with apples, oranges, blueberries, and strawberries. "You're welcome, by the way," L picked up the bag with his jaws and walked back to the fire. The journey was going to be interesting now, since the human knew what he was now.

She didn't say thanks. She was silent for a long while, not responding until after they had arrived at the site of the fire. "Are you gonna stay in that body now, Mr Ugly-Scales?" she asked, her voice still coloured with a faint bothered tone. She had nicked an orange from the bag and began removing the peel with her hand. "I dunno how I'll feel when I wake up tomorrow morning with a, a you next to me. Honestly, it would be bad enough if you were a person, y'know?" She finished peeling it and bit into a slice, enjoying the sharp, citrus taste.

"I'll switch back and forth from time to time, but I'll have to stay in my other form. If my wing wasn't story, we would be flying," L raised a wing and scowled at the torn, thin membrane. After a few moments, and with a swirl of smoke, he changed back into his other form. His clothes where now bloody in some spots, but he seemed relieved. He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, muttering a few words before he picked up his bag.

"Oh, okay. Anyway, what are we gonna do now?" When L briefly disappeared into a smoky whirl before reappearing in his other form, she murmured, "Ooh, how whimsical," with a faint hint of distasteful sarcasm. "I hope you're going to clean all of that blood off you, by the way, I'm not going near you until you do. Anyway, what are we doing now?" She tossed another orange slice into her mouth.

"My blood is soaked into my clothing, so I would have to change. I'm glad I brought more sets of clothing," L shrugged off his jacket as he said the last few words, stretching his arms as he spotted the shirt he wore looked more like a bandage. With a snap of his fingers, he had changed his clothes, hoping that the cleaner ones would last for awhile. L winced as he picked up the fruit bag and his own, muttering a curse under his breath. "I'll clean when I find a source of water, now let's go."

May had been about to scold him for changing in front of her, until in the blink of an eye he was sporting a new set of clothing. "That's the most impressive thing I've ever seen you do," she commented with an amused puff. She picked up her own bag and glanced over, hearing L wince. She approached him, holding out her hand. "Give me one of those," she ordered, gesturing with her other hand to his two bags. "We're not going anywhere until you do." To illustrate her point she straightened her stance, her feet planted firmly together on the ground.

He passed her the fruit bag before grabbing an apple. "Is it stereotypical for humans to be stubborn?" he asked with a sigh. L turned around and started walking, taking a bite of the apple. Out of everything that had ever happened, this was one of the many things he would have never thought would happen. So far, everything was going well, despite being attacked moments ago.

She loosened up as she took the bag from him and waited for him to lead the way onward. "Stereotypical? I guess it is, in a lot of situations. It's one of our best features, dragon boy. But trust me, I'm about as bad as they come." She grinned, like she was proud of some stellar accomplishment she had made. "Now get a move on already, I'm tired of standing around in this stupid field."

"If my wounds weren't fresh, I would have put you on my back and ran." L muttered, continuing to eat his apple. "Luckily, I'm glad wounds heal fast. Wing membrane though? If I had a needle and string, it would heal much faster, but I don't." The thought of one of his wings being torn made him growl in annoyance. It's been awhile since he was in this situation, and now he remembered why he always wanted to avoid it.

"I saw a bat with a torn wing once, so I kinda get where you're coming from. Thing was left for dead with an injury like that. I watched a snake eat it." She had had some fun escapades into the wilderness, all of them fond memories. She never was the indoorsy type. "You'd think such a well-prepared guy like you would've thought of bringing something as simple as a needle and some string, though, huh?" she mocked, watching L grumpily eat his apple. The sight made her giggle a little.
