Abrevynen peeped and ducked low, going completely invisible even though it was pointless to do so. Kouhane turned her head in the serpent's direction, laughing. "I guess this means introductions are in order?" she asked, hopping off of Kowara's back. "Hello there, can I ask, what is your preferred technique for keeping your feathers clean and beautiful?"

The serpent had widened his eyes at the question, and his expression nearly made Kowara chuckle. "My feathers? I-I'm not sure. To be honest, I haven't been able to clean them in some time..." he thought for a moment before continuing. "Staying away from anything that can stick or get trapped in your feathers is one, I guess. Water is another thing I've used to clean them, since it helps get rid of muck."
Kowara stood up and walked forward, getting out of the bushes and sitting down.

"Well, when you're as blind as I am, it's difficult to avoid mud puddles and thorn bushes. Does water really provide such use? I've always found that even when soaking in a spring, I simply can't seem to rid myself of some of the peskier filth." She tapped her beak with her wing, in thought. "I always thought there had to be some secret material bestowed unto the earth by the feather goddess herself, but perhaps I'm wrong, for surely a beautiful Quetzalcoatl such as you would know of it." She peered at him closely. "Hmm, am I right when I say your name is Vezolth? I am Kouhane, and these are some creatures I met just a few moments ago." Looking between them, an expression on her face like that of a stern mother, she said, "Greet each other, why don't you?"

"I'm the Kowara the Kitsune, nice to meet you Vezolth." The serpent was extremely dumbfounded now, wondering how the bird, Kouhane, knew his name.
"N-nice to meet you... how did you know my name?" Vezolth asked, uncomfortable about the situation at hand. He couldn't understand the creatures of the forest, after everything he had been through. "Why do you show me kindness, even when all you know is my name and what I am?"

"You see, I am a wise bird. A fortune-telling, future-seeing bird. For my powers to work, I'd need knowledge of every soul to ever be born, and every one to ever die. Although I can't see the future in my state," her eyes flashed, "I still know the circumstances of your existence, and along with that, your name." Then she yawned. "But with the end of the discussion of my miraculous abilities, I answer your second question. What reason do I have to not be kind? I don't have a reason to dislike you, especially when you are a fellow glorious winged beast. In fact, I quite like you already, Vezolth." Of course, that was only because she admired his wings.

Vezolth twitched at her answer, unsure if he should believe it or not. He watched as Kowara's tails swayed behind her. Seeing other creatures that he never heard of was one thing, seeing that they were nice to him was another. First the hunter, who he was extremely cautious of, now a Kitsune and a wise bird. A question appeared in his head and he thought he would ask it. "Do...do any of you know a hunter with a deer skull? I have yet to.. thank him for treating my wounds."

Kouhane shook her head, sighing, as she could tell Vezolth was uncertain of her explanation, but Abrevynen popped out of hiding shortly after with a nod. "Mm-hm! We've seen that hunter! We don't know him, but we saw him a while ago. So he is the one who fixed your wounds, huh? I bet we could find him." He looked back at Kowara. "Do you think so, Kowara?"

"I do believe so, even if he doesn't like my presence," Kowara agreed, remembering the time she introduced herself to the hunter in her human form. The serpent looked at Abrevynen, and gave a slight nod. "Thank you, and another thing," he winced as his stomach grumbled once more. "Is there any fruit here? My last meal was last night, before... well, this," he gestured to his wounds.

Abrevynen nodded. "There's plenty if you know where to look! We'll bring you some when we come back, okay?" He smiled to the serpent. "Now come on Kowara, let's find the hunter as fast as we can!" "Wait for me," Kouhane snapped, returning to her perch on the Kitsune's back.

Kowara nodded and waved her tails at Vezolth. "We'll be back, just hold tight Vezolth," she walked off without another word. She wondered how meeting the hunter again would go. Vezolth watched them go, and decided to search around the area he was one. Eventually, he found a berry bush and ate what he could from it.

Abrevynen fluttered his wings. "Alright, let's find ourselves a hunter!"
Zilius was roaming through the trees near his house, looking for branches he could make arrow shafts out of. The basket he carried already had a few in them, and by the looks of it, he had collected some wild plants in it too, some for food, while the others were for medical, magical, and otherwise practical purposes.

"Give me a heads up when we're near, please? It would be good so we can prepare ourselves. We don't know what he can do." Kowara looked around the area she was walking through, remembering the path they would need to take to get back to the Quetzalcoatl. "The hunter hasn't seen me as a Kitsune yet either, so that should be interesting."
Once he had his fill, he curled up to the best he could and waited. His thoughts kept wandering back to what happened yesterday, and he pushed the thoughts away. Vezolth sighed and looked up, hoping he could spot the sky from where he laid.

Abrevynen nodded and kept his senses alert. A few minutes past and his ear twitched. He gazed around. "He's close. His guard is up, so watch your step or you might spook him!"
Zilius sat on a rock to examine what he had collected so far. Some of the branches would be easily broken, but he had made sure to collect some like that on purpose. Others were tough and solid, perfect for far-flying, skin-piercing arrows. He also did a check of the other stuff he was carrying to see if he needed to collect anything else before returning home. All the while he kept his ears focused on the world around him.

Kowara nodded, "Alright, which way?" She held her head high as she looked around. Her tails curled up behind her, hoping to reduce the amount of noise they could cause.
Vezolth watched as some leaves fell, along with the rustling of bushes. He actually felt calm and peaceful, for once.

Abrevynen pointed with his small ferret paw to the east. "That way!" he whispered, also keen on minimizing noise.
The hunter with the deer skull mask finished counting up his collection and got to his feet again, intending to gather a few more supplies before calling it a day and dropping them off at his home.

She nodded once more before walking east. "Watch his movements, you two," she said quietly. Kowara slowed down slightly as she saw a structure appear before her. "Now where is that hunter?" she murmured.
He sighed and relaxed, since he couldn't sense another presence nearby.

Kouhane hadn't any idea of the hunter's whereabouts, but she kept her ears open. Abrevynen nodded and tracked the hunter, paying attention to his location. "He's coming closer. He'll be within sight if he keeps walking the way he's walking."
With the last flower dropped into his basket, Zilius turned and made way for his hut. He approached the door and hesitated, sensing a presence. Dismissing it, since he felt quite safe near his house, he opened it, dropping his basket inside. Then he sighed, irritated that he'd forgotten to gather feathers. He still had some stored away, though, so he took them and his other resources and walked outside to start fitting sticks to the arrowheads he made earlier. He sat in a sunny spot so he could see better and got to work, but he was wary, so he kept his guard up.

Kowara nodded, watching as the hunter did come into view. She hesitated for a moment, surprised at herself for a moment. With a shake of her head, she stepped forward, out from the bushes. "It's been awhile, hunter," she said calmly. Kowara stayed where she stood, not moving an inch, but ready to take action if needed.

Zilius turned his head sharply as soon as he sensed movement, pulling the tip of his skull mask downwards to make sure his face was more or less shielded from sight. Not that it really mattered if he was seen or not, he just didn't like being looked at in the eye. "Oh. Kitsune. What do you want?" he asked. His voice was quite gruff, clearly not fond of this encounter or the interaction that came with it. He set down his things, ready to grab the dagger at his side if he needed to. Kouhane squawked at him, "You're aloof if I've ever seen it!" but she was ignored by Zilius.

"A feathered serpent asked for you, he wanted to say his thanks and possibly offer something?" Kowara said, disliking the tension that seemed to rise quickly. "Look, the quicker we get this over with, the quicker I won't be a threat to you. I'm not comfortable either you know," she snapped.
